Washington Butler is a native of Puyallup Washington was always interested in the arts. She performed on stage and in school. Then she moved into Los Angeles and studied theatre at the University of Southern California. For one year and a half, she was Belle the Princess in Beauty and the Beast. Her departure from college was to seek out an agent. Then she began casting and working in television as well as film. Butler guest-starred on the television series CSI: Miami and CSI: NY.She was cast in the movie A Couple of White Chicks at the Hair Dresser as well as The 2008 Syfy TV film of horror Flu Bird Horror. She had a role that year on the web series Luke 11 17 which was directed by Don Stark. Butler also played a regular character in I Love Vampires, a web series. Butler won the leading role in 2010's rape-revenge thriller I Spit on Your Grave. The remake is a remake from 1978 of the beloved iconic film with the same title. Although initially she was not a fan of the film's sexual violence and nakedness, she was eventually convinced by the storyline's feminist tone and powerful character. Butler played Jennifer Hills who, following being viciously assaulted in a forest cabin and then gang-raped, seeks revenge on those responsible. Steven R. Monroe directed The film was released on October 8, the year 2010. In November 2011, Butler and Estella Warren started filming the psychological thriller The Stranger Within in Mallorca, Spain.
